Scholarships, intended to encourage further educational pursuits, are awarded to Hispanic/Latino contestants, between the ages of 17 and 21, based on a competitive essay and an interview.

Puerto Rican/Hispanic Day Parade
Adelante’s first parade was in 1966. Since then it has become the largest parade on Long Island, and the second largest in New York State, outside of New York City. The parade is continually growing, with approximately over 2,000 participants, and an estimated over 75,000 spectators. We are proud to continue the tradition of sponsoring this positive event, where the Hispanic community throughout the Island comes to celebrate its common and unique heritage.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Annual Children’s Christmas Party
A Christmas party for over 300 children is given annually. Attending children receive gifts, as do more than 1,000 children who cannot attend the party. Employees, and friends of Adelante, volunteer their time and services to make this a memorable event for all of the families involved.
